Edward Jessie Sr., born on March 24, 1943, transitioned and entered into his eternal rest on January 24, 2026, at Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas, at the age of 82.
Born in the lower 9th ward located in New Orleans, Louisiana to his parents, Irving Jessie Sr. and Mildred Jessie, Edward was one of seven children: two girls and five sons.
Edward was a 4 Sport Athlete, where he played football, baseball, basketball and he was a member of the track & field team. The Hurdles & 100-yard dash was his specialty.
After Edward graduated from George Washington Carver Senior High School, he attended Southern University in Baton Rouge on a Basketball Scholarship and later Southern University of New Orleans.
Before he was able to complete his degree, Edward was called into Military Service with the United States Army. Ranking as an SP4, He operated as a Medic in the Vietnam War. Upon his return home, Edward married, Beverly Jean Hunter on July 8, 1967, where they had 2 children: Son, Edward Jessie Jr. and daughter, Daphne E. Jessie-Walker. Edward also engaged in a Relationship Resulting in Two Additional Sons: Schedrick Alexander and Kedrick Alexander. Edward Has a Host of Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren That, Unfortunately, He Never Had a Chance to Meet.
Edward Retired from The City Transit Authority Called NOPSI (New Orleans Public Service Inc.) After 30 Years as a bus driver. In 1980, Edward moved around a few times here in The United States after leaving New Orleans, La., Where he worked multiple Jobs, rededicated his life to Christ and later became a Minister in his church. Life was not always easy for Edward, but he was a very strong man with a strong determination to live a simple yet comfortable life.
He is survived by his four children, grandchildren and his great grandchildren.
Preceded In death by siblings: Irving Jessie Jr., Henry Jessie, Harald Jessie, Donald Jessie, Rosalie Jessie. and he leaves behind to cherish his memory, His Sister, Delores Powell. Also, Mourning His Passing, Is A Host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, Church Members, Friends, And Coworkers.
